Food Tour (RSVP Required)
October 4 ~ 3pm
As mentioned via email, we’ve hired some guides to take us on a food tour around the city.
The tour will depart from the Grand Hotel Baglioni at 3pm sharp, and will stop at local bakeries, chocolate shops, and wine bars. Please plan to arrive at the hotel by 2:45 pm.
If you can’t make it to the food tour —- or didn’t RSVP —- we’d still love to meet up with you afterwards! Text one of us to find out where we’ll be.
Sightseeing
In addition to the places that we’ll be taking you on Friday and Saturday (i.e., the Boboli Gardens and the Uffizi), here are some other sights that you might like to see:
The Duomo (Florence’s main cathedral). Don’t worry, you can’t miss it! It’s right in the center of town, next to the Baptistry and its famous gilded doors (“the Gates of Paradise”). If you’d like a guided tour —- or to climb to the top of the cupola —- tickets can be purchased here.
The Accademia. The Accademia is home to Michelangelo’s David (the real version, that is; a replica stands in Piazza della Signoria, right outside of the Palazzo Vecchio).
The Ponte Vecchio. The Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence —- and the only one to survive World War II. It is now considered one of the symbols of the city.
Piazzale Michelangelo. Piazzale Michelangelo is the best place to get a panoramic view of the city. We recommend going at sunrise or sunset.
